[olug] starting broadband ISP, any suggestions?

If in IA, INS will most likely get you fiber, and I'm assuming that they
will have some long haul gear to mux/demux DWDM at your place.
They can supply you with a couple of plain routers for the 1GbE.
You shouldn't need to worry much about huge Cisco or Juniper routers until
you start getting diverse path + multiple transit/bgp madness.
So, open source or lower end "normal" platforms should work.
They should be able to get you ipv4 blocks but you may want to get an AS
and get your own block through ARIN. Its not too pricy.
What kind of microwave? :-)
