ive been watching makerbot industries for the last few years after a leo
laporte FLOSS interview. the idea of open source hardware has always been
interesting to me. the idea of a community driven product line seems much
more appealing than a proprietary approach to design and support.
last i checked, the parts to build it from scratch have a price tag ~ 500.
for a piece of industrial equipment, that would be great, but it seems a
little much for something that essential is toy version of a 3D printer.
