[olug] Touch-pad mouse problem discussion from Tues meeting

At the meeting Tues night Jon and Aaron were talking about some problem with the touch-pad mouse on a laptop not responding well with Fedora 14.  (I think...greybeard moment)  Here is what I had to do on my laptop to make my Synaptic touch-pad work correctly:

In grub, on the "kernel" line add "i8042.nomux=1".  My current line looks like this:

	kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.34.7-61.fc13.x86_64 ro root=UUID=5df39507-dfea-4eb1-9b9a-8731270cdcc6 rd_NO_LUKS rd_NO_LVM rd_NO_MD rd_NO_DM LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SYSFONT=latarcyrheb-sun16 KEYBOARDTYPE=pc KEYTABLE=us rhgb quiet i8042.nomux=1
