Well as someone who leans toward Democratic Socialism, I tend to have
issues with all three forms of liberalism--market, social, and
political. The basic understanding I have comes from being raised
mostly in Nebraska. That is there are certain segments of the economy
that are necessary for society to function and to leave those in the
hands of businesses to act will imperial the society. The creation of
public power systems in Nebraska is a result of that idea. When
Nebraska Republican George Norris was in House and Governor he saw
that the commercially driven electrical companies would never go into
rural areas. The cost to do so would not provide the profits at levels
for them to make it worth their effort. While in the House he
spearheaded the bills that created the Tennessee Valley Authority.
Then while as Governor, the public power system Nebraska has was
established.
When it comes to political and social liberalism, one is held from
acting in ways to truly change, and the other loses its moral and
ethical responsibility in caring for "the least of these" in our world.
