Hello,
If you need to scrub the drives completely, you could use one of the tools
on the Ultimate boot cd - http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/. Recommended for
any machines with sensitive data.
If you just need a general removal of data, a reformat/install would be
clean enough for 90% of the people that might come in contact with the
machines.
For a quick install with good auto-detect, with the caveat that you need
at least a 2.1gig Hard drive, would be Knoppix hard drive install. You
should be able to install one machine and either
a. clone across the network using a knoppix boot cd & cpio
b. put the HD's in the first machine and use the clone Util on the UltbootCD
c. boot from a knoppix cd with both drives in one machine and
dd if=/dev/hda of=/dev/hdb (or whatever the drive devices are)
