>From my understanding of Docsis modems, the modems will record the known MAC 
addresses in RAM. Solution: unplug modem, then plug back in.  I've been 
experimenting and it works fine.  I don't think the modem cares (or even 
knows) if it's a NIC it's plugging into, or a hardware firewall.
