Yes, it is important to get the right package.
It's also important to note whether or not Linux/BSD is capable of
running on the machine in question.
The Alpha at the Installfest had DEC's really old TURBOchannel expansion
bus. Linux just doesn't have support for the machine! If we had
NetBSD/Alpha laying around I'm sure we would have been able to get it to
work, though.
