I can help here, the SAS cable is just a SATA cable with some extra pins,
if you are using the built in backplane it should accept either.
BUT, I've ran SATA for a long time myself, even corporate. Capacities used
to be my issue, and I've got a ton of Dell R710's that only accept 6x 2TB
drives.
You will get slightly better performance using SAS over SATA though, if
you can find drives in a needed capacity.
