You may be thinking of Wireshark (once known as Ethereal)?

ntop is a service that runs using libpcap for traffic visibility (or
NetFlow), and displays via a web interface.  Always has been, to my
knowledge.  I don't remember when I first used it, but I know it's been the
case for well over 10 years now.
