Chad,

Do you have the network cards setup to use Paravirtual Networking (virtio-net) instead of the default Intel network cards? The network performance is twice as fast as the Intel-type network cards since it bypasses virtualization of the network card. You could also enable jumbo frames if the guest OS supports it (I have never tried it myself). Hope this helps!
