i forgot we had a cheap (probably Harbor Freight) tap and die set.  Believe
it or not, the drive caddy shredded the threads on the 8-32 tap.  Should
have removed the 3.5" part from the 2.5" adapter beforehand.  Then the nut
mount came off entirely and ruined the 2.5 adapter.  Luckily, i had bought
extra to begin with.
