I highly recommend Linode.com.  I've been using them since 2007.  Very much
a company "by engineers, for engineers".  Very flexible, lots of good
documentation, very few restrictions, and they constantly increase the
resources without increasing the prices.  Their customer service and tech
support are top-notch, too.
