[olug] Virus/spam filtering recommendations?

Anyone ever set up a mail server that does virus and spam filtering?  
Any recommendations?

Years ago I came up with a mechanism that involves clamav and 
spamassassin, and it still works, but 1) it's kind of cobbled together 
and 2) it's resource-intensive.  I'm thinking it's time to revisit the 
topic of virus/spam filtering, and see if better methods are available now.
