[olug] GIMP Assistance

My wife is in a art class at UNO on Digital Media, she is trying to  
use GIMP for the assignments. Is there any one who can give her some  
direction and assistance to on working with GIMP. I could figure out  
some things with her, but it is getting into things I had not played  
with in any way.
