if vnc is an option, you may want to try androidVNC (gpl license).

vnc authentication is a joke, so i recommend using an ssh tunnel to
connect. connectbot (apache license) is great for this.

i know its not exactly what you were looking for, but if it's an option it
might be worth looking at.
