[olug] starting broadband ISP, any suggestions?

What speeds?  Assuming you have tower space and reasonable clean 
spectrum, the affordable side would be ubiquiti Nanobridge M5-25.  If 
done in a point to point setup you can reasonable get a consistent 
60mbps real throughput and you are only looking at an 18" dish.  You 
could also go with rocket dishs which are 2' dishes for point to point 
links and your signal should be good enough that you can turn down the 
power and have plenty of fade margin for ducting.  Nanobridges are $90 
apiece so you are only looking at $180/link.  Rocket dishes $260 apiece 
or $520/link.

To reach realistic higher speeds you will probably need to go with 
licensed point to point links such as the SAF, Trango, or Exhalt.  For 
licensed links you are generally looking at the $5k to $10k range per 
link depending on the brand, frequency and bandwidth requirements.
