[olug] RAM compatibility

My mobo takes DDR2-800 (PC-6400) RAM, which is the only type that my
mobo's spec specifically lists.  A friend has offered to sell me a pair
of 2GB sticks of DDR2-1000 (PC-8000).  Will the faster RAM work, just
at the slower speed, or is not not at all compatible?
