[olug] OT: Linksys E2000

I've gone to buying fairly generic routers for myself and most of my customers. $25-30 routers from Newegg is about equal.
Combine the overall experience with a lower replacement cost, and the best option ends up being the generics.
I'm sure others' mileage will vary, but I set up a lot of SOHO networks, and have replaced equal numbers of Netgear, Linksys, and generics.

I ran the Harry Potter books through a spell checker; none of those spells should work.

I thought maybe a 100 USD linksys would "just work", it doesnt work too
well.
DHCP crashes every 4-5 days....how hard can it be to make a firmware where
things just work??? The "300Mb" N wireless doesnt do too well even at 4 ft,
impossible to get an actual 300Mb link indicated, usually around 150Mb, with
max transfer speeds around 80Mbps

Packet latency has increased by 1.5-3.3 ms.

DD-WRT isnt available for this model yet, waiting...

Just thought I'd pass along my experience to others.
