[olug] Slow read speeds-SuSE

CPU and network utilization is nill during backups...since they run for 5 days I have LOTS of time to look at those to see what they are doing....8( 

NIC and Switch are autoneg and both are sitting @Gb/Full.

In some instances, I've seen high CPU load compressing the image while
sending over the network, and NIC doesnt have offload, thus creating an
issue where the machine has issues sending at a reasonable rate across the
network. Issue can be compounded even more with software raid.
