[olug] Linux Laptop Cell Phone DUN

Hope this helps,

I set my smartphone to internet sharing mode, plug it into my lappy
and Ubuntu recognizes the connection and I'm on. Older phones
required me to setup a usb modem for the device and dial to obtain a
connection. It was never that difficult. Bluetooth may also be an
option tho I've not got Ubuntu to see my BT PAN from my phone. . .
When connected, I get around 1.5 MBits / sec max on an Alltel 3G
connection.

Incidentally, every usb modem dongle I've tried has just worked and
connects as soon as it's plugged into the machine, regardless of
carrier.
