These days you could even run your own Google Wave server. Logging is
built in. Security models are built in. You can see each revision as
it happened with playback, which is always nifty. I'm not sure if Wave
code ships with encryption options however.
Jabber does support encyrption, and I believe it has since 2001.
However, I don't believe it does encyrption by default out of the box.
Wouldn't retention of IM logs go against HIPPA? Isn't the point of
HIPPA to keep things confidential?
And if you are using IM to discuss things that are supposed to be
covered by patient confidentiality laws, aren't you doing something
wrong?
