I've noticed that networkmanager on kde4 sometimes has issues, this is on suse 11.1
It also didn't detect my wireless card on a vostro laptop, but the live cd does with no issues

long)
I have kubuntu on my Sony laptop. Originally, it just worked but at
some point I started having trouble with the wireless. I uninstalled
NetworkManager and installed wicd and it is working fine again.

It used to work in 8.10....although it had issues with the kernel. I had to hold or continuously press the CTRL key to get it to boot....now it boots fast...so it needs 9.04.
