[olug] Using "Google Maps" offline?

I'm taking the family on a vacation through the Black Hills next week.  I'd
like to pre-load the high-res maps from GoogleMaps (http://maps.google.com/).
Is there a way to cache these locally so I don't have to have the live
connection to the Internet?

Or is the Google Earth program the way to go?  (I'm under the impression it
requires Internet access too...)
