[olug] startx / init 5 hangs, ctrl-alt Fx doesn't work

Note, F-10 switched X from vt7 to vt1, so CNTL-ALT-F1 in particular 
functions differently.

Otherwise, what video hw/driver is in use here?  (I can note that recent 
nvidia drivers fail spectacularly, especially combined with kde).
