This very off-topic for a Linux group but I think many people here are more
experienced than I am at how to proceed.
I do some web-development on the side and I have a client that wants to put
up an ecommerce site with a domain they purchased 7 years ago. We got
their hosting setup but we need to change the nameserver information on the
domain. And, naturally, my client's email address they can't remember their
old password and they have gotten rid of the email account that is on the
contact information on the domain.
I've worked about this mess before, but now it gets interesting. The domain
was registered from SRSRenewals.com and they are unresponsive. We filled
out one ticket, and they got back to us the next day saying to email
info at srsrenewals.com or call an 800 number since the email address has
changed. Emails to that address get bounced back as "no such address" and
the 800 number goes straight to a voicemail box and messages go unanswered.
Subsequent tickets go unanswered as well.
So now what? How do we get the domain un-hijacked? This is a .biz domain,
so should we contact NeuStar? Anyone else have any ideas?
