[olug] Setting Kmail to send outgoing mail through Cox Cable Omaha

Cox doesn't provide the MSA port.

IMO there are 2 reasons why most email clients don't offer it:

a) IMO the biggest reason: It's not anywhere close to being universally
implemented. 9 times out of 10 port 25 is all the email host will
accept. If they offer a port other than port 25 they pull a number out
of their arse (I've seen 2525 and 2500) and make it an open relay on
that alternate port.

b) The standard mail submission port requires the SMTP STARTTLS command;
support for that isn't universal. Some email clients (most notably
Outlook and Outlook Express and it's successors, Windows Mail and
Windows Live Mail) don't support STARTTLS - they require SMTP over SSL,
aka port 465. A lot of smartphones are in the same boat.

If you get outside the Mozilla email programs (Thunderbird and SeaMonkey
aka the old Mozilla Suite) support for the MSA port is really, really
spotty.
