Are you sure it's Gmail that is the problem? I'm pretty sure the
spell-checker is a Firefox feature, and if I recall there were some issues
with FF3 and Gmail. Not sure if they all have been fixed by Beta5, which
Hardy ships with. You can install the stable FF2 version if 3.0 is giving
you trouble.
