Hate to do this.  But that is RMS not ESR.

A quick checklist to tell the difference

RMS

o - created the GPL/Emacs and laid the groundwork for free software
o - Believes in Free Software
o - Can be drive into a near homicidal state by using the phrase
"Free/Shmee what we want is Open Source"
o - Still wants you to call it GNU/Linux after people laughed at
lignux

ESR

o - wrote the Cathedral and the Bazaar
o - has threatened to make Bruce Perens sorry, getting Bruce to call
the police out of concern for his safety
o - Flips from distribution to distribution as he manages to "make
friends"
o - Has said some incredibly stupid/racist things in postings
o - Wants you to use CML2 to configure your kernel, until Linus
"betrayed" him
o - Believes in ESR
o - Checkout Everybody loves Eric Raymond for more tips

Both have done things for the Free & Open Source software community,
but ESR to be quite frank is his own biggest fan.
