When you lose the connection, check the network settings on the router.
Most specifically make sure that your IP is valid and that the gateway
and DNS values are still correct. I see alot of SOHO routers (dlink,
linksys, etc) that will start dropping parts of their config for no
apparent reason, this is usually a prelude to failure. If everything
looks good, I would still try renewing the DHCP lease on the router and
see if that fixes it rather than power cycling.
Most likely if you have consumer grade router it is probably the culprit.
