Two of us could tell we showed up. Since we both had been there before, we
actually talked about Linux. It was mostly about sysadmin problems that
puzzle dummies (me), trying to see far enough into the future to avoid the
trucks on the infohighway, and wishing we could find someone with enough
experience to offer guidance.

My guidance list comes easily to mind: what is wrong with the new (used)
machine - the power blinks when the on switch is pushed and then dies
(probably a power supply), why does Fedora 8 KDE live resist playing DVDs
when using the same approach that works on Fedora 7 (and who cares as that is
the system with the blinky light - reinstall on an other new old machine), is
the Chronicle package capable of converting a bunch of text files into a
single index.html file in a directory and so worth working with when it
implies converting a bunch of xhtml files back to text (try reading the
directions), and does my new way of using aliases as cross links mean I'm on
my way to the semantic file system as it seems to be happening with the
extended hierarchical directories I'm building for plants and animals,
geologic time, and chemicals (maybe when it looks like it handles queries to
a file system based semantic database).
