As I do this stuff for a living... my inability or unwillingness to work
on HylaFAX(+) would essentially mean that all of my customers have
simultaneously fired me or I have died/been killed.

The same, really, could be asked about any software development
project.  As for plans... right now I'm not planning on dying.  Should I
happen to die before your need for fax dies I have a secret hope that
you will have joined me by then as a co-developer of the software and
you can carry the torch after me.  :-)
