I recommend the Guides available at the Linux Documentation Project:
http://tldp.org/guides.html
Specifically,
Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
The Linux System Administrators' Guide
The Linux Network Administrator's Guide, Second Edition (a little old, but
still useful)
Bash Guide for Beginners
As for asking questions of an instructor, that's what our mailing list is
for :)
I teach Linux sysadmin classes using courseware from Gurulabs
(http://www.gurulabs.com/). You might want to contact them directly to see
if you can purchase the courseware, it's very good. I have some extra
copies if you'd like take a look at them, contact me off the list.
