about 4 yrs ago when i did mandrake, RH, and XP on a LAN SAMBA in both RH and mandrake did some kind of "automagic" configuration so that I saw shared resources between all machines. I could then cp files between machines with a drag and drop type thing in gui, However...I now feel that this made me lazy.
Explore all options and experiment alot...take your time and understand what it is that U are doing. (my advice to newbies). Oh ya, and lots of caffine too :)

Sorry I cant be more helpful, I havnt looked at mandrake for a long time.
