The OS on the the virtual machine has a completely different
address/path/location. It is just one big folder of goodies. Viruses
treat the virtual machines as separate machines. They have different
macs, IP's, system files and even have their own dedicated drivers.

i don't know how many of you knew this, but there is a free* VMWare
Player along with many premade ready to download virtual machine
images. The VMWare can be a host on a Linux or Win platform and have
Linux and Win guests. Won't be able to check it out till i get to a
faster connection. I still want to support QEMU.org, but this player
sounds easy enough for Grandma. i like their idea of a "Browser
Appliance" virtual machine, but i still do not see it protecting
against a keystroke logger app running on the host OS.
