[olug] open console and user name and pass are not accepted

I just installed SuSE 9.1 and am ready to go but when I type my user 
name and password in the login screen (X comes up automaticly) It says 
login failed.

I am VERY VERY sure what I typed in install for the user name and 
password  What could be wrong and Can it be fixed


Also If I ever get through this I want to open the console or go to text 
mode before the gui comes up can you help??
