Is anyone aware of a tool that will defragment a VFAT formatted USB
mass storage device in Linux? Many of these devices, such as my Archos
V480 PVR have VFAT filesystems that become very fragmented after a
short time leading to performance degradation. I only run Linux and
OSX, so I wonder how they expect those users to maintain the drive. I
have heard of a tool simply called "defrag" in Gentoo and Debian, but I
can't seem to find that tool in a Fedora/Redhat package, or in any of
the most common apt (for rpm) repositories (dag, freshrpms, etc.).
Anyone else have experience with this?
Thanks,
-Darren
