Sounds like you have 2 questions. I will answer the file sharing question.
You can do:
Temporary (quick):
mkdir /tmp/mp4
cp *.mp4 /tmp/mp4/
Permanent:
su -
mkdir -p /usr/local/share/movies (or whatever)
mv *.mp4 /usr/local/share/movies
Then there is the whole permissions discussion.
