[olug] Machines to playback video spots and as PVR's

Work is looking at adding five PC's to playback short
video spots, put a gui-style scheduling application on
it (possibly to playback the spots at given times
automatically using drag and drop to an editing
timeline to add fades and other transitions), and to
act as a video titling system between spots.

Eventually we'd probably be looking at installing a
few machines to act as PVR's to record programs off of
videotapes (NTSC, PAL and SECAM) formats and off of
satellite.

Recommendations on RAM, Hard Drive space, video cards
and software applications?
