My company is still using Win98, on 450 - 900Mhz boxes. Havent seen anys
need whatsoever to upgrade to XP....all our servers and systems we support
are Linux/Unix/SCO, Hopefully by the end of this year we will replace every
desktop we have with laptops(running Linux)....then we will be Microsoft
free.

Three years? Before I had two kids to support a three year replacement cycle
was more than reasonable. Now, the fastest Linux server in my basement is
six years old and still working fine. Even my laptop is closing in on 3.5
years and I won't be replacing it anytime soon.
Within the next year, my work will be throwing machines away that a superior
to the hardware I'm running at home. I feel a dumpster dive coming on.
