note:(I have not installed any with a debian distro)

you should be able to use the ati drivers as long as you have the agpgart
setup, I usually setup the agpgart as a module for ATI.

What have you done so far? What implementation of the drivers are you using?

I'd suggest 4.3.99 of xfree or x.org if attempting to use the open-source
drivers.
