eeek. 5 gig for /usr /var / /etc/ /tmp .,.,...etc   ..... isnt enough.... 
thats saying Lets install EVERYTHING onto a 5 Gig Drive... its not gonna be 
very functional...even if u did manage to get any distro installed.  If I am 
not mistaken, Open office is something like 500 MB alone....   after 
install... Ur gonna run outta space quick.

Id say Minimum of 10 GB for / if u arent gonna divide it up anymore than 
a /home.
