One other thing Steve, when I do debian_version it comes back with
testing/unstable, and I am not real sure what that really means. I have ran
the apt-get update when I first installed it.

Depending on your distribution, which you still haven't identified, you need
to run the command as root. As I said before for Mandrake/KDE try
"XFdrake",
RedHat/KDE try "redhat-config-xfree86 "--as root.
