I am with you on that, that was the one thing that really turned my on when
I used SecureCRT. But I dont do alot of serial console like I use to, and I
only use hyperterm to setup the device(s) and finish via network - that is
not to bothersome.
however... the serial backend is on the wishlist...

Add me to the SecureCRT user count. All 6 of us current network engineers,
plus 3 ex-employees use/love it. One of the things I like most is you have
the same interface for both console (com1,2 etc) connections as you do for
telnet/ssh.

I've heard of Putty and SecureCRT, but I've never actually heard of many
people using them (until now).

On the overkill side of things you could install CygWin and have all the
command line tools available.
