[olug] RH8 & Logitech camera

Thanx, I will look into that! It uses the SUNPLUS SPCA500A chip in it.
I am not adept enough at programming to write my own driver, but maybe I
will get lucky sometime in that someone else can...I can wish. I think
that this puts the coffin in my purchases of Logitech products though.
I stopped buying their mice years ago when I figured out that Kensington
has a 5 year warranty on their mice vs. 90 days or 1 year for Logitech.
I may have to keep around Winders for just my camera work until a driver
is found. Thanx again!

Actually, I was able to get my logitech quickcam to work in xawtv with
the
pwcx driver: http://www.smcc.demon.nl/webcam/

It might work with your cam too even though yours isn't listed (I
didn't
take the time to look to see what chip yours uses). Sadly, you still
won't
get any digital cam functionality out of your cam with pwcx. But he
does
have a nice API specification to help you make your own driver based on
his
(if that sort of thing interests you).

As far as using the cam on your RH8 machine with your parent's Win
machine,
I don't understand why you can't just set it up like a webcam. (xawtv
has a
webcam package that works with the pwcx driver or you could try
camstream:
http://www.smcc.demon.nl/camstream/)

Hope this helps,
Jason
