I don't have one of those machines but I did buy one of the kits from
radio shack once a while ago. I used it to rescue psx and audio cds for
friends and myself. I'm not sure where it is now, but if I remember
right it's two things. 1 bottle of liquid wax (carnauba I think) and 1
bottle of cleaning fluid (alcohol I think) All you did was clean off the
cd to remove grime, apply the wax, let dry, and buff clean. Repeat. All
it does is fill in the scratches with wax. It only works good for small
scratches. I didn't use it much, since I was concerned about the wax
heating up and ruining the cd players.

Check out this quote in that tech tv article: "In contrast, the
SkipDoctor MD, which is basically a motorized polishing surface, uses
distilled water as a lubricant. Distilled water poses little if any
health threat." Boy, I sure hope so...
