When I was trying to set up a private network, sharing a single Internet
connection, the most valuable resources I found were two HOWTO's from
the Linux Documentation Project. They are:
The IP Masquerade HOWTO
http://en.tldp.org/HOWTO/IP-Masquerade-HOWTO/
Masquerading Made Simple HOWTO
http://en.tldp.org/HOWTO/Masquerading-Simple-HOWTO/index.html
The second one is not intended as a "basic" replacement for the first,
but more as a complement for a simpler network. Both are kept very up
to date and should help get your network up and running in a hurry, with
full internet access to all machines on the network.
If you have any questions or difficulties that these can't answer, let
us know and we'll see if we can figure it out. ;-)
