Actually Darwin has been released for x86 for quite a while now. And it
really doesn't work at all for AMD based machines (I tried to use it
for an OS project in school last semester) but yes, you can run
xwindows and, potentially, any gui you want on top...I was attempting
to use kde/enlightenment, but since I don't have any pentium machines I
had to use something else.
