We had a large network of Linux boxes with a Linux DHCP server at my
previous work and we could never get dhclient to send the hostname to
the server, even after slightly hacking up ifup or attempting to connect
manually. I believe that the server was running Red Hat 7.1 and the
clients were running Red Hat 6.2, Red Hat 7.1, Red Hat 7.2, Mandrake
6.0, Mandrake 7.2, Mandrake 8.0, and Mandrake 8.1. I'm glad that it
works for you but what I said was based on my experience.
