[olug] dhcpcd problem

David: I don't have another ethernet card that I can try. Nor do I know
anyone who has one that I can borrow. I assume (but I don't really know)
that if walked into a computer store, they're not going to let me just "try
out" an ethernet card on my laptop----- I don't know, would they?
On the 'static IP' suggestion: I have been told that this would definitely
fix the problem: however, in the long run, it may require a lot more of
knowledge about what the heck one is doing than what I have at the moment
(I'm always willing to learn).
So, Nick: If I try this "pump" suggestion, bypassing the DHCP, will that
keep the settings on a static IP address? Or, will it only need to run
"pump" momentarily? I'm going to try this, but I need some help on what
exactly to do.
Thanks again for all of the suggestions---- tanya.
