it is the "boot" option in lilo.conf, if you want lilo on the mbr, it would be
boot = /dev/hda
( or whatever the first disk in your system is , could be a scsi disk /dev/sda  
etc....)

if you wanted lilo installed on your "boot" partition, you will need to find 
out the partition that is on, e.g.  /dev/hdb4 could be your boot partition, 
to look at your mount points, type in "mount" with no arguments e.g.

beetle:/home/roberson # mount
/dev/hda7 on / type reiserfs (rw)
proc on /proc type proc (rw)
devpts on /dev/pts type devpts (rw,mode=0620,gid=5)
/dev/hda5 on /boot type ext2 (rw)
shmfs on /dev/shm type shm (rw)
usbdevfs on /proc/bus/usb type usbdevfs (rw)
/dev/hdc on /var/adm/mount type iso9660 (ro)
